Welcome to the Campaign Website for Michael W. “Good Mike” Dawson
Mike is a life-long resident of Perryville, married for 22 years and raising three children with his wife, Carolyn. His Cecil County roots run deep, tracing an ancestry line through a Revolutionary patriot and even amongst the earliest of Maryland settlers.
He graduated from the John Carroll School in Bel Air and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD where he also served as the editor of the university’s student-run newspaper. He has continued to pursue graduate-level education in the interim. He is an active member of the First Baptist Church of Havre de Grace and also chairs a standing public affairs committee for the Baptist Convention of Maryland and Delaware.
Inspired by his passion for making Cecil a better place to live and work, Mike committed to the community-based leadership training of the Cecil Leadership Institute last year, and is proud to be a member of its 14th graduating class. He is currently serving in his third term as board member and vice president of his neighborhood community association, and his second-term appointment to the Ethics Commission for the Town of Perryville and first term as a member of the county’s Historic District Commission. He was re-elected to serve a second term as vice president of the Republican Club of Cecil County. Previously, he was a candidate in the 2010 General Election for the MD House of Delegates (34B).
Mike has been employed with Verizon Communications for 19 years as a field technician in the landline side of the company. He is the son of Hugh and Barbara Dawson, also of Perryville.
